Keep in mind that just because I’m giving this list doesn’t mean that I do all these things. This is one of those do as I say not as I always do deals. However in the interest of honesty, I will tell you which of these we do and which we intend to do.
Number 1. Weather proof your home to save on your energy bills.
Our home is only five years old but you would be amazed at how much weatherproofing it needs. Since this winter’s been so cold this is something we are going to look into this spring. One thing we do is we put a large towel on the floor by the front door as we have a huge draft.
Number 2. Hang some of your clothes out to dry. I do hang out heavy towels on the porch. You cannot imagine how much electricity it takes to run the dryer to dry heavy towels.
Number 3. Get rid of cable TV. No way, José. Jimmy likes to watch the fights, the PBR bull riding, UFC ultimate fighting, and occasional movies on HBO or Showtime when they’re fit to watch. Mary watches the Hallmark channel.
Number 4. Set your thermostat lower in the winner and higher in the summer. Jimmy says use a little common sense when it comes to this.
Number 5. Turn off the water when you are not using it. Jimmy does this.
Number 6. Recycle. Jimmy does not do this and for good reasons which will be soon be revealed in an article.
Number 7. Do your own repairs. Mary fixes things, Jimmy does not. If something needs to be fixed Jimmy calls Mary.
Number 8. Carpool. When Jimmy actually had a 9-to-5 job he did carpool when possible.
Number 9. Buy a car that gets good gas mileage. Jimmy and Mary did that and we have a beautiful car.
Number 10. Use public transportation. Good idea but not always possible.
Number 11. Walk if you are only going a short distance. Jimmy does this.
Number 12. Learn how to shop for travel deals and save big money on your vacations. Jimmy knows how to do this.
