If you just bought a new or used car that is wonderful but now you need to get auto insurance. The important thing before you start looking for car insurance is to understand what’s available.
Here are four types of car insurance that are available.
Number 1. Liability insurance. This is the most basic and only covers people in other cars and other cars should you cause an accident. This is the type of insurance that most states require you to carry and you should check with your state requirements as to minimum coverage that is necessary.
Number 2. Collision and comprehensive insurance. This type of insurance is going to be required if you buy a newer car and finance it as it will protect the investment that the finance company has made. Should you have an accident and your car is totaled the finance company would receive the money.
Number 3. Personal injury protection. This type of insurance covers you and your family if you get in an accident. Depending on what state you live in you may not be required to carry this type of insurance.
Number 4. Uninsured motorists. This is the type of insurance that would cover you in case somebody who has no money and is not carrying insurance hits you. If this happens you and your family would be paid for.
