If you’re in the market for car insurance there are some things you can do to lower the price.
Some of these things you can do include:
1.Asked for a higher deductible. Reducing the deductible on your car insurance from $200 to $1000 can save you as much as 40% or more. However, before you choose a higher deductible make sure you have enough money set aside to pay the difference if you should have a claim.
2. Drop the collision and/or comprehensive insurance if you have an older car. If your car’s older there is no reason for you to have this type of insurance when all you need is liability, which comes at a much lower price.
3. Compare insurance cost before you buy a new car. Many people don’t realize that car insurance comes in different prices for different types of cars. The car that carries the lowest type of insurance would be a four-door sedan with a small engine.
4. Seek discounts. If you want to organizations such as AAA you may be able to get a discount on your auto insurance. Also you may be able to get a discount through your employer.
5. Get your homeowners and auto insurance from the same company. Jim and Mary do this and we received a huge discount on our car insurance.
6. Keep your driving record clean. If you’ve got any tickets in the last year go to a driver school and have the points removed your drivers license. This will reduce the premium for your car insurance.
7. Safety features. Make sure your car has seatbelts, airbags and antitheft device. Safer cars pay less for insurance.
8. Low mileage discounts. If you drive a low number of miles each year make sure your insurance company knows it as there are discounts for low mileage.
