Nine Ideas to Save Money on Food

Nine Ideas to Save Money on Food By S. L. Simmons

With the economy currently in a slump, many families are cutting back on
luxury items. Groceries remain a budget necessity, but with careful
planning there are still ways to spend less money on food each week.
Listed below are nine tips to help keep your food budget under control.

1. Buy less tender cuts of meat and slow cook them in a crock pot. I like
to brown meat on the stove first so that it gets heated up quickly. Once
the meat has been cooked through thoroughly, I add the meat to the crock
pot with some kind of sauce, juice, canned soup or gravy and let it
tenderize and slow cook for hours. I try to do this in the morning, so
that when my kids get home from school they can help themselves to a
healthy crock pot meal instead of filling up on snack foods. On days that
I’m organized and have some free morning time, I’ll have a couple of
different crock pots going with two different entrees, usually a roast and
a hearty soup or stew. One recent favorite dish at our house is pork chops
slow cooked with orange juice, and topped with orange marmalade before
serving.

Global warming? Oh yeah, right. Last night we just had the coldest night we have had in Florida in 20 years. No wonder they decided to call it climate change instead. They were having a hard time selling people on global warming when temperatures have actually been decreasing for the past 11 years because as everyone with an ounce of sense knows, the earth is in a cooling period and is likely to continue this cooling for at least the next five or six years before it begins to warm up. Even the scientists will tell you that the Earth warms and cools in cycles, which last between 20 and 30 years.

However, since we are in this cooling cycle and the weather is freezing, even here in Florida, here is how to save some money or heating bills.

To rent or buy a house, that is the question?

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Read this before your next move and learn the Advantages and disadvantages of both renting or buying a house.

Everybody wants to own their own home. We gave up our home in Wisconsin we went to Bible school and it took us 10 years after moving to Florida before we were in a position to buy our own home. For 10 years all we talked about was getting our own home again when we were living in a beautiful rental community how wonderful town house tennis courts from a pool right across the road from the ocean in Melbourne Beach, Florida.

We were glad we bought our own home and even more glad six months later when two hurricanes destroyed the entire rental community and we would have had no place to live.

5 ways to cut down on expenses

Posted by: admin | Comments (10)

Learn how to cut down on your spending with these 5 ways to cut down on expenses and you will have money to pay your bills and do the things you want to do.

Let’s face it, everybody has expenses but the trick is to cut down on these expenses and get them under control. Let’s make that a resolution for the New Year. Many of these day-to-day week-to-week and month-to-month expenses can cost you a lot less money with just a little effort on your part.

Number 1. Pay down your high interest credit cards. Many credit cards nowadays are carrying a interest rate of 29.9% and if you have a high balance, chances are very good that you are making your minimum payment and it will take years to make a dent in the balance. Negotiate with your credit card company and get them to drop the interest rate to less than 10% and then make your minimum payment plus extra money on the balance each month. Start with the credit card that has the smallest balance and when that is paid off use the money that you are paying on that one and apply it to the balance on the next smallest and so on and so on until you have them all paid off.
