Covenant of Wealth
ByDeuteronomy8:18 but you shall remember the Lord your God: for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as it is this day.
The word established, as used in this verse means to continue, when translated into Hebrew. God gives us power, or ability to get wealth because he made a covenant with our fathers and wealth is part of the covenant. Jesus told us in Luke chapter 13 verse 10 to verse 16 that healing is also part of the covenant.
The word wealth, as translated in this verse means plenteous in goods. And if you don’t mind me saying so what this really means in God’s covenant is for us to have plenty of good stuff. Now don’t get crazy on me that doesn’t necessarily mean that God wants everyone to be a millionaire but it does mean that God wants us to have nice things. I realize that people have a hard time with this but as you read through the Bible you will discover that God’s Word shows that it is his will for us to be prosperous. God never wants us to be poor.
I am a prosperity preacher and I offer no apologies for that. Many preachers are what I call poverty preachers and the people in their churches are poor. its God’s desire that we have nice things but it is not God’s desire that we love these thing or covet things. The Bible tells us that the love of money is the root of all evil, it does not tell us that money is the root of all evil. Money is not evil but the love of money is evil. I know rich people who love money and I know poor people who love money and it is evil in both cases. It is not noble to be poor because the Bible even tells us that poverty is a curse.
Jesus said I am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. I say that if Jesus came so that we could have an abundant life the least we can do is live an abundant life. Someone has to pay the bills and people who have more than enough money are the people who pay the bills. It takes money for evangelism, to keep the lights on in the church, to send a television signal which carries the gospel into the Moslem countries, to pay the preacher and to feed the poor.
The rule of thumb is from is Matthew chapter 6:33 when Jesus said, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and everything you need will be given to you. My dear brothers and sisters this is not poverty. Having everything you need given unto you is prosperity and that is what Jesus said we could have.
Whoa Jimmy?

Whoooa Jimmy, and Whooooooa our Lord and Saviour!
Thanks for not apologizing for being a prosperity preacher. There is no doubt that some folks equate prosperity preaching to a financial scam vs. biblical truth. Not to say that there aren’t some that have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain (1Tim. 6:5), that is why it is so important to fill ourselves with the Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit so we can discern who may be abusing God’s people and teaching false doctrines. I truly believe those that condemn the prosperity message are not aware of God’s Word, or simple reality. How is the good news to be shared and souls saved without costs? Large companies have private jets so they can manage their global assets more efficiently, but if a Pastor of a global ministry owns a jet he is seen as being excessive? Operating a huge ministry cost effectively is part of good stewardship, after all. Why are some folks hung up on guilt that all believers should be paupers? We are taught not to be stingy, but we are also taught that anything we sacrifice for the kingdom out of obedience to God will be returned to us (Matt. 19:28-30). There are many wealthy people in the Bible: Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Job, Solomon, etc. and there is nothing to be guilty about……unless you are seeking wealth before seeking the Kingdom of God. I, for one, claim God’s abundance so I may bless His people and be a major blessing to the world. I have big plans which require large funds and I claim those in the name of Jesus Christ, my brother, Lord, saviour, redeemer, and provider!
Hello and thank you for a intriguing posting. I am still thinking over what you wrote here.
