Read this to find out if you need classic auto insurance and if so how much it will cost.
It is probably going to be a good idea to get insurance on this classic dream car that you were finally able to buy before you take out on the road. I want to make sure you get the best deal.
To qualify as a classic car, or an antique the car must be a certain number of years old generally at least 25 and in some states even older.
The next step is to determine if you even qualify to buy insurance for your classic car.
You cannot use the car for general transportation.
- You cannot have more than one traffic violation in the last three years.
- All modifications to the car must be documented.
- You must be at least 26 years old.
The first thing to do is check with your present insurance company and ask them if they have a classic car insurance plan and if they do you may qualify for a multiple car discount.
It your car insurance company does not offer insurance for your classic car, go online to a search engine and type in insurance for classic cars. You’ll find lots of companies that offer insurance for classic cars but many of these may be expensive.
Once you get all your quotes compare the different policies and decide which company has the best price and the best coverage.
Jimmy says classic cars are fun. I still remember my 1967 GTO convertible with the big tires and the jacked up rear end that would go 160 miles an hour.
