It’s not just the same as walking into a store and making a purchase from a cashier. Your agent should know something about the way you live, about your background, your occupation, and your family. A good agent is actually a partner and someone who has your best interest at heart.

Many people are drawn to auto insurance agents who offer the cheapest price for minimum coverage. The easiest way to find an agent is to call several agencies and get some quotes and get a feel for agents who seem to be concerned about you.

Talk to your friends and ask them who they deal with for their insurance and how they like their agent. If they have ever had an accident and the agent did indeed take good care of them they will have very favorable comments and this may be someone you would like to talk to. Another thing you can do is look at your state Department of insurance website to see if there are any complaints against the agency that you are considering.

Visit three or four local body shops that specialize in damaged car repair. These people deal with auto insurance agents every day and can tell you which agents are concerned about their customers. They can also tell you which companies have the best service in case of an accident.
