Are you aware that a survey showed that 79% of all credit reports contain serious errors or other mistakes of some type? Wouldn’t you think that more people would be interested in checking their credit report just to make sure they don’t have any mistakes on theirs?
Even people who are not actively seeking a loan or are on the verge of buying a house or a new car or even getting a new credit card should still take the time to monitor their credit report.
If someone has stolen your identity, which people can do so many different ways, they could be using your credit and causing entries on your credit report and you wouldn’t even know it unless you monitor your report.
1. The thing to do is go to annual credit report.com, which is a government-approved site that enables people to get access to their report within minutes. Under present law people have the right to obtain a free credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus once every 12 months and I strongly recommend you do just that.
2. Be careful as many people including our singing friend on television are inviting you to go to these free credit reporting sites and what this amounts to is that these sites are going to have you use your credit card to access your credit report and then they tell you that if you cancel your subscription within 14 days it will not cost you anything. How nice. Most people do not cancel their subscription or forget to or can’t figure out how to and their credit card is charged on a continual basis.
Jimmy says by using the Internet it is so easy now to monitor your credit report that there is just no reason why everybody should not do that.
