Oh how shoppers love credit cards. Plastic is the way to go. I remember years ago watching the movie “The Graduate” when Mrs. Robinson’s husband looks at the graduate and says, “one word, plastic”. Little did he know what he was making the short remarks that were meant to help the graduate find lasting employment that he was speaking prophetically about the American shopper.
I cannot imagine walking out the door to drive anywhere in my car without having the comfort of knowing that there is a piece of plastic in my wallet right next to my heart. Oh, I just remembered I carry my wallet in my back pocket.
Credit card companies have made it so easy to get this piece of plastic and so many people did and so many people got into trouble with these plastic cards. Even fast food places now take credit cards. At least I haven’t done that yet. I haven’t paid for my big Mac with a credit card. I think when I get to that point I will no longer carry any cash and that could happen.
Every household still receives approximately 24 credit card applications per year even though credit card companies know that the average person has at least two cards.
Americans are drowning in credit card debt. Many people owe $50,000 or more on their credit cards. That may be hard for you to imagine but that’s the truth.
The good news is that you can get one of these easy credit cards at 0% interest rate and transfer the balance of your other credit cards on to it and then make the same payment and use this to pay off your existing credit cards. This is the way to do it.
