How to sell antiques Read this and quickly learn how to buy expensive antiques for next to nothing and make very good money selling them.
Are you interested in antiques? Are you interested enough that you would want to make this your life’s work buying and selling antiques? If so, it may be easier than you think.
The first thing to take into consideration is what type of Antique store do you want to have?
Retail space
Do you want to have a retail space where people would come in and browse around to pick out the piece they want? If you do there is lots of retail space that are available right now at very inexpensive prices because so many people gone out of business.
If you’re picking a retail space find a place with good visibility and good traffic. A retail space in a little strip mall that has a very popular anchor store such as a popular grocery store would bring traffic to the area. Find a space as close to the grocery store as possible so people who are buying their groceries can see your store.
Another option is a small stand-alone building along a popular street but if you do this you must make sure that you are able to put a sign out close to the street so everybody driving by and see that there is antique store there.
If you do either one of these two ways you’re going to have some startup cost because if you set up your business in a space weather to stand-alone store or retail space in a mall your going to have to get a business license, occupational license, insurance, first and last months rent, security deposits for electric and that’s just for starters.
Another way to do this is to sell your stuff on eBay. Put your pieces on eBay along with a photograph and let the bidding begin. Once the bidding is over and the sale has been made box the piece up and ship it. This type of business you can run out of your garage.
You can also sell your pieces on consignment in many antique stores. In this type of situation you put your piece in somebody else’s store and split the profit. The good thing about this is you do not have to carry the overhead of operating a store and you do not have to maintain 9 to 5 hours.
You can also do very well selling things at flea markets. This is a weekend selling job. You work Saturday and Sunday and you are off the rest of the week.
How to find antiques
One of the best places to finance them is in garage sales. Many people sell things not knowing what the value is you can buy them for next to nothing. You can make a very good living buying items at garage sales on Saturday morning and selling them during the week.
Start out early this Saturday morning and just drive around in your car and stop at garage sales and see what you can find. You can also make a good living finding items that are not quite antiques but are still very nice and you can sell them for 10 times what you pay for them.
Estate sales. The work also the only problem with these is if there is a big estate sale going on there will be a lot of antique dealers there to compete with.
