Last Minute travel deal
ByLast minute travel deal
You can find travel deals at the last minute if you have determination and persistence and some luck. Many times you can actually get better prices when you decide to leave in less than a week.
The more flexible you are the better the deals you can get.
If you have a copy of the Sunday newspaper, check in the travel section, which is the first place to start looking for travel deals. This is where the small companies and local travel agencies will offer their last-minute prices in order to fill seats and rooms.
The first thing to do is book your flight. No flight no trip. One way to save money on flights is to book stand-by-seating. This means that you agreed to fill a seat at the last minute when somebody else cancels or does not show up. Airplanes will fly to their destination even if the seats are not all filled and because of this the airlines will fill the seats for less money because they do not want the seats to go empty. However stand-by- flying is becoming increasingly difficult, as airlines have cut down on their number of flights in order to ensure that they have less empty seats.
The best days of the week to get standby seating on the airlines is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. When I travel for speaking engagements, many times I will leave on Thursday, speak Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday night and come home on Tuesday. This gives me plenty of time for a nice financial increase conference, lots of whoa Jimmys and inexpensive airline tickets to boot.
Another way to book a trip at the last minute and still save money is to book your trip during the off-season. Many packages including flights, hotel rooms and rental cars will drop their prices as much as 50% during the off-season. Contact the hotels you would like to stay in, directly yourself, and ask them if they have empty rooms and then when they give you a price ask them if they will take less money for the room. They will if they want to book rooms bad enough and besides, they do not want empty rooms because guests will spend money in the restaurants and the vending machines and they also tip the staff.
Also, if you are a member of an organization be sure and ask them if there are discounts available because of that. Many hotels will give you a discount if you are a member of anything.
Don’t forget to check with travel agents. Sometimes they have discount deals which are not published anywhere else.
Also make sure you check online because generally the prices are cheaper online as there are no commissions involved unless you are dealing with travel agencies who works online.
Jimmy says, remember, all prices are negotiable. The more you negotiate and the more you asked for special deals and discounts the more money you save.
Whoa Jimmy?
