Read ths and quickly learn how to start you own Residential house cleaning service and make great money.
This is an ideal business if you want to have your own business and don’t have much money to start with. People like to have a clean house, even those people who don’t like to clean their own house, me included.
You can start your residential cleaning business with very little money.
Supplies to get started.
To start this business all you need is some cleaning supplies which includes some rags, a vacuum cleaner, and a bucket and mop. Chances are you have everything you need right in your own house and when you’re starting this cleaning business just go around and gather up all the stuff you need.
How much money should you charge?
The first thing to do is call other cleaning services in your area and ask how much it would cost to clean a house of 2000 ft. with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Set your price at $10 less and in no time at all you have a full appointment book. If that point, you can raise your price to the competitive rates.
Never tell people how much you charge per hour, always quote your price by size of the house and never tell people how long it is going to take you to clean their house. If they find out how much you are really making per hour they will fire you.
Never allow people to be home while you clean their house. They will time you, on the sly and then figure out how much you are making per hour and fire you. People don’t want you to make too much money per hour. If they get the idea that you are making anything over $10 per hour they will fire you. That’s just how most people are, sad to say.
How to find cleaning customers.
Make up some business cards on your computer and leave a card with everybody you know and every place you go.
Make up some full-page flyers and go around the neighborhood and pass them out. Go around every day and put 100 of them on people’s doors and do this for a week. You will get phone calls. Many newspapers have a service section (that’s how we got our house cleaning business started).
Always word your ads the same way, house cleaning, low rates (in large letters) and your cell phone number and 50% off on first cleaning (at the very beginning). The phrase, lower rates, will always cause your phone to ring even if your ad is surrounded by 10 other ads. Always include lower rates in every ad that you run. That is the secret to getting business. People want good service but everybody is concerned about price.
How long does it take to clean a house.
For the average house, 2000 ft. three bedrooms, two bathrooms, it should take the average person two hours or less. If you’re spending over two hours in that house then you need to rethink your cleaning process. If two people are doing the job they should be in and out in about an hour.
First-time meeting with new customers.
When people called to inquire about your house cleaning business make an appointment to go out and look at their house and to meet them in person. Be sure and tell them that you do the work yourself. People like that. Try not to give a price over the phone. You don’t need to dress up to go meet the people but looked nice and look neat. Carry a clipboard with you and make notes as you walk through the house with your new customer. Tell them, but only if they ask, that you do not do windows, or laundry, or make beds or do shopping.
Only pick houses that are easy to clean.
Remember, if the people seem to be very picky about the way their house is cleaned this may not be a customer that you want. Some people, bless their hearts, are very difficult to please and will make your life miserable. Learn to spot these people and the way you handle this situation is by doubling your price. They will almost always tell you that is too much money and you can say thank you and then leave. You will thank me for this advice.
How much money can you make?
One person working alone, should be able to comfortably do three houses per day at say $80 per house and that comes to a total of $240 per day. Keep in mind, that this price depending on the area of the country in which you live. In some areas the prices are higher in some areas the prices are lower Not bad money and it is cash on the barrel head which means that you get paid when the house is cleaned. Do not, I repeat do not allow people to run up a bill. Insist that they leave you a check each and every time. If the check is not there do not clean the house unless you know the people very well or they have been a long-term customer. People will sometimes find reasons not to pay you or will be hard to get in touch with when they owe you money.
Jimmy says, house cleaning can be a great business, it pays well, has short hours and you will be your own boss.
