(I am currently reading Your Money or Your Life – which is a great book by the way. And I won’t turn this article into a review of the book since I haven’t finished it yet, but one of the things that I found very valuable the other day was calculating your real hourly wage.

It’s not as simple as saying, “I make $400 a week and work 40 hours, therefore I make $10/hr.”

House sitting jobs?

You mean to tell me that someone will pay me to just sit in their house? Well, it’s not quite that easy but it is an easy way to make some money and enjoy a low-cost vacation to someplace far away and very nice at the same time. Or maybe even a place close to home. Do you enjoy taking care of animals? House sitting may be a way for you to have fun and earn some extra money. This would be living in another person’s house for a certain period of time while they are away from their home. You would be required to take care of pets, to maintain the house, pick up their mail and see to it that the house is kept safe and is clean when they get home.

 This can be a great business for people who just want to work part-time or for people who are retired and would like to see some other areas of the country and earn some money while they’re doing so. People will generally book a house sitter months or weeks in advance so you have plenty of time to plan your trips.

Start a dog walking business

Do you like dogs, I mean really like dogs? Well,  if you want to make some good money and if you love dogs and enjoy walking with them? I am talking about making $200-$300 or more per day while you are walking dogs and that is nothing to bark about. Sorry, I just could not help myself, but do I have your attention?  If so, read on.

Many people who have dogs must keep their dogs pined up in a house all day long while they are at work and would love to have a dog walking service available to them and would be more than willing to pay someone to come to their house, and take their dog for a walk. Sometimes, older people who love the companionship of their dogs are unable to go outside and walk with them but they still want to keep their pets. This could be a great part-time business for you and as you get into it you will find that it really does pay very will and the hours are short.
