Because of the Internet and better technology, companies are finding that they can outsource their order taking or problem-solving and even sales calls to home-based workers. In this job you would actually be an employee and would be paid according to the number of minutes that you spend on the phone with the company’s clients.
The advantage to working this job is flexible working hours and no driving each day to the office, but you still are an employee and you’re pay is dictated by how much work the employer provides to you. Working hours are determined by the employer so keep in mind that you can’t just decide to change your hours without giving notice.
You must have high-speed Internet access and a dedicated phone line. Another thing you will need is quiet office space. A crying baby, a barking dog, or a ringing doorbell could get you into trouble with your company.
Although the pay is not high to begin with there are advantages to working at home for a call center. You have little or no overhead, no commuting cost, no very expensive childcare costs and you can work in your pajamas.
You would probably start out taking sales orders from your company’s clients and as you get good at this you may very well have the opportunity to transfer into sales where you could make some very good money. First things first, get yourself hired by a company and then work your way into a sales position. I tell people this if you can talk on the phone you can make a living. you talk on the phone? Then you can make money.
